Introduction guide to padel

  1. Game: Played mainly in doubles on an enclosed padel court
  2. Scoring: Same as tennis (15, 30, 40, game; first to 6 games wins a set, tiebreak at 6-6)
  3. Serve: Underarm, after one bounce, hit diagonally and below waist height
  4. Walls: Ball must bounce on the ground before hitting walls
  5. Shots: serve, return, volleys, lobs, groundstrokes, overheads
  6. Positioning: Play as a pair and try to control the net
  7. Winning points: Opponent misses, ball bounces twice, or hits fence/wall directly

Padel is always played in doubles on an enclosed court where you can use the glass. It’s fast, social and easier to rally than traditional tennis.

How many padel courts do you have?

We have 5 padel courts.

Do I need my own equipment to play?

No, we have paddles, bats and balls available, plus expert advice and a well-stocked shop if you decide to buy your own later.

Can beginners join in, or is it mainly for experienced players?

Beginners are very welcome. We run social sessions, coaching and structured introductions designed to help you feel confident quickly.

How do I book courts?

Booking is simple and is handled through the Hurlands app, where you can check availability, reserve a slot and manage everything in one place.

What else is there to do besides play?

Plenty. You can book classes, visit the restaurant or café, relax in our lounges, watch matches, take part in events, or simply meet friends.

Do I have to be a member to visit Hurlands?

You don’t need to be a member. Many activities, events and food and drink experiences are open to visitors.
